Learning requires cooperation - the student shouldn't try to change, to just resist with all his might nor collapse and run away (unless that is part of the learning experience that is being imparted, of course), but give something for the teacher to work with."

I can assure you that one can resist with all their might or collapse and run away, and it would not matter at all to Sifu ;)

It would look different though. And probably more authentic.

Of course everyone should make moves clear and visible in a school environment. If it's about practice and teaching, it should look a bit artificial. It would be strange if it doesn't. ;)
