Most of those doing applications like the first guy don't ever do them with anyone attacking with any realism

Unless special kind of force/app intrigue me.
Most of Xinyi stance too low. It’s good for foundations.
But in applications, unless you are wrestling, why stand so low, and moves slow?

XY forms are not copying fight moves but building endurance, strength, coordination etc. They are more conditioning drills.

Standing low and moving fast makes the legs really strong and the legs are used to power all the strikes and defenses.

In a fight xy guys dont say they have to fight at that height but because they have trained at that height they can kick, step, jump with great speed. Btw xy also has animals/drills that are very upright designed for speed but they are trained later once the foundations are solid.

But it was not sparring. He was just teaching his students options.

"What do you do if I attacked with X? Do Y."

Pretty universal method of teaching for every martial artist on the planet.
