Fight perfect TV - how to street fight with MMA

First clip I would hate to see what happens to his knees doing that on the street
Second clip even when he says he is throwing them full speed my granny would get out of the way of them

Well as someone who has done that on concrete let me enlighten you. Some grazing And slight bruising the next day ... shock horror!!!

Sounds nasty. Presumably, the only reason you can still walk after such a terrible injury is because of the years of daily application of herbal remedies and long distance qi healing from mount wudang (at very competitive rates).

The first clip should have shown how to do the body slams that were in the pre-amble clips. That would have been way more fun, and if you can pull it off, probably more effective as well. Never mind the old discussion about the advisability of going to the ground in a street fight to begin with (note that if you pick someone up and body slam them, you don't have to go to the ground yourself, or if you do, you get to just stand back up instead of staying there to fight).

The second clip assumes that you're in a position with warning that stuff's going on and can start in a ready position with your hands up. That's all well and good if you're into consensual fighting, but doesn't require any changes from MMA to street. It could just as well be titled "how to use MMA against an untrained fighter". Again, fine if that's what you're into, but not particularly informative for anyone else.

Maybe the series should be called "MMA techniques for people who don't want to actually train MMA, but want see a couple things that they imagine they could pull off to feel like they're tough.*
*Note: They can't actually pull these off. That would require training."

No way will you enlighten me
So one time you did it and landed on smooth level concrete
If you use that as a regular thing to do in the street one day you will get up with a smashed patella

As for the fact that you don't have to land on your knees that's my point
He is training to land on his knees not even on judo mats but gymnastic mats

I notice that you didn't address my second point that the blows were so slow my grannie would have stopped them

Wayne. How much testing of this method have you done? I have no reason to argue with you when you clearly don't know what your talking about here.

I addressed the first point because I have experience of it.

Would this be my first go to method? No. I would want to stay standing, but the knees are not the problem as you suggest.

I didn't address point two because I have no skin in the game here. I am not here to defend these people. I Don't particularly like the attack either but that has nothing to do with you and your gran.

You may think I don't know what I am talking about but you don't know my background
I grew up with two cousins who became Australian wrestling champions
I also worked with a number of professional wrestlers
In the 70's the only long term martial artists were judo and jujitsu guys
Most had trouble walking
My first martial arts were judo and karate
I got my first judo instruction in 1959
All that aside a knowledge of body mechanics tells me if you land on both knees supporting someone's body on concrete it is not the best decision you can make

Sorry, but I am not impressed. Forget all that ... I wonder if you ever fell over and grazed both knees in the playground as a child.

No one is saying it is the "best idea you can make" ... I absolutely would not aim to do it as a tactic, but that has very little to do with fear of damaging my knees. I am simply saying that, if needed, it also isn't as bad as most people assume.

regardless I am finished with the discussion.

I don't aim to impress you
I responded to this post
You told me I don't know what I am talking about
I tried to clarify
You withdrew
I am an old skateboarder so I understand scraped knees
This guy doesn't advocate grazing the knees but deliberately pile driving them into the deck
I am writing this here for others not you or Grahame
I have see both your YouTube channels and can see where you are and I know I have nothing to offer you
However others can make up there mind if I have anything to offer them

I think the point they were making is that bodyslamming someone on the ground could seriously hurt them and you'd wind up with legal trouble, possibly prison time. Plus that they'd prefer to take it to the ground before the opponent can do that to you.

I'm not a huge fan of the takedown he's showing, prefer a hip throw/trip on concrete where I can control how fast they fall and can get into a full mount easily by stepping over once they're down.

And, er, Wayne - I think that's you they're talking about at 4.50..... ;D
(also addresses the issue of whey they didn't show big takedowns)
