Xiong Yangho Exercise

Postby robert on Sun Mar 10, 2019 11:47 am

Xiong Yangho was a student of Yang Shouhou. Is it my imagination or is he kind of drawing taiji diagrams starting at 7:51?

The method of practicing this boxing art is nothing more than opening and closing, passive and active. The subtlety of the art is based entirely upon their alternations. Chen Xin

Shhhh! Don't let Charles know somebody is drawing taiji diagrams in the air - the horror!
One does not simply post on RSF.

Could be. If so, it might be historically interesting.

Xiong also cross-trained in other styles other than Taiji, so those moves are not from Yang style. According to one of his disciples, they are referred to as Small Five hands.

More footage of him showing other forms and a couple of applications.

C.J.W. is right, that is taught out of the Xiyangzhang in the Xiongmen school, not from TJQ! And it is not a Taiji symbol painted by the hand, but neutralization on both sides, up and down. Sorry Robert!

Thanks for the information. Since it came after a taiji form I thought it might be related.
