I heard legendary stories as this man as a kid taking on bulls. Thanks to the internet I finally got to see edited highlight footage with the best of Mas Oyama wrestling a bull.

Now what was all the fuss about? Bulls don't hit back and he basically just twisted the bulls neck until the bull was injured. WTF? How is that impressive?

He is strong, no doubt about that... But chopping of a horn? Lol! What a laugh. Yeah, I watched this a long time a go and had a laugh.

The power of editing... In the old times when people didn't understand exactly how movies were made...

He strikes towards the horn, his hand disappears behind the Bull's head. Then there's a cut to the horn on the ground. Probably sawed from a dead bull. It's so simple. Yet no proof or footage of him actually cutting a bull's horn or killing a bull with hos hands. Only a myth spread by enthusiastic Karatekas who want to believe.
... and ironically enough partially the same crowd who laugh at Qi ... Religious beliefs take many different shapes and forms...

Starting at 6:41, Blumming says they hammered the ox's horn loose.

I also heard that Oyama would have people tranquilize and weaken the bull "just enough" before he engaged in his famous "man vs. bull" stunt.

Too bad he's no longer with us. I would have loved to see him try to wrestle and chop a horn off one of these:

Of course you guys know they wrestle bulls at every Texas rodeo?
Did Mas ever ride a giant champion bull for 8 seconds?
The bulls he face were not even close to a riding bull they were same as the rodeo.

and then we also have oyamas friend and karate great gogen(the cat)yamaguchi who claimed to have killed an wild tiger with his bare hands. he was captured by russians while stationed in manchuria. he claimed russian soldiers throwed him into a deep pit where they kept an tiger, but insted of being shredded by the big cat he karate chopped it to death, well maybe he trew some kick at it too. after this incident, or rather after telling of this incident he was nicknamed "The Cat" 8-)

Hello, I'd like to maintain a 'cool post count' of 108 posts. This particular post has gone beyond that number and has therefore expired.

I'm sorry if you were looking for some old information but I'll do my best to answer you if you send me a DM with a question in it.

I think you might find the cat got his name through his heavy use of the cat stance

Maybe 7 feet. ;), but that's more than big enough.

One thing that I really hate about my country (Spain) is bullfighting. That said, Oyama would be mince meat in a few seconds against a real bull.

Fortunatelly that world is fading and losing support, but we used to breed real monsters here (modern bulls are smaller). Not so long ago fighting bulls were able to kill tigers and lions (even against two of them at the same time). Texas bulls are cute cows in comparison

Those aren't the kind of bulls that jaime-g is talking about. :)
