That's a great little clip of WLS demonstrating some ZRM movements. Very light and spritely indeed for his old age at the time.
It seems like Wan was one of the original mixed martial artists, even employing Dominick Cruz style neo-footwork before it was invented.

I learned a bit of the circle walking of ZRM, the basic fighting methods, some conditioning methods and two taoist qi gong sets from my original cma teacher, Liang Chao Qun. All very practical stuff.

Also, even though Liang taught the Taiji, Liu He Men, etc. that he learned from WLS, the body method always seemed to be driven by ZRM.

Apparently Wan's go to technique involved kicking them in the knee and then punching them in the head. Classic.

I remember one of the first techiques we drilled was just that : an oblique kick to the knee followed by a right straight to the head.

Quite an ordinary tactic learned early on in many CMA’s such as Xin/Xingyiquan and Changquan, kicking and arm/hand technique done at same time in form.
This to develop a good upper and lower body coordination in a forward attacking mood.
Make opponent busy with the upper to not see the lower(in time), or vice versa.
