Great stuff Alex, thanks for sharing - lovely to see such free form switching between recognisable xingyi techniques - impressive power from Paul R also!

Hi

Yes great skill, but lets see some realistic application against a real western boxer, some one with speed and power, please some one who can throw a punch maybe?.

Do you have such a video of yourself? Against an active boxer throwing punches at speed? If so, I'd like to see it.

Hi

No I don't but paulrogers does have quite a few clips and dvd's and I have not seen any against as you say 'active' boxers.

I know of his teacher in Tianjin and his is quite famous for his boxing methods.

So i was just inquiring that was all.

I guess your point is the moves won't really work against a boxer and if so you're right. Most often boxers wouldn't leave thier arms out long enough for them to really work in the standard pushing/sticking range.

The moves mostly work at a specific range which is inside fist but outside clinch and is the normal sticking range for most ima. Paul is just showing a few nice examples of that as a teaching method.

A nice follow on video would be how to use this sticking & trapping in clinch range or how to catch someone just coming in and out of clinch range. I also think this is vital training for all people doing pushing and sticking hand play but it seems like a rarely practiced method. That and how to escape body locks and leg take downs using similar sticking/pushing methodology.
