I don't know why you're so obsessed over this but let me be clear.

To me saying I am someone's student implies a relationship that does not exist between myself and Adam Mizner. We don't know each other, we don't owe each other. I give him money and watch his videos. I am a customer. He is certainly not my Sifu. That is a blatant falsehood.

You may have heard that when it comes to teaching and learning martial arts there are customers, students, and disciples, and it is wise for a teacher to be able to discern which they are dealing with. It's also wise for the customers, students, and disciples to be clear and honest about the relationship as well. If there were a better source of material being offered online I wouldn't think twice about terminating my subscription.

Yes I don't want to "dox" him, releasing details about your real identity is your own business online IMHO.

But when you post the same things on facebook and here, it's hard not to make the connection. Just so happens he wrote a couple books that I'm interested in so they are now in my collection.

What do you call it when you're standing by ready to drop a supercut of conversations from months ago, to make what point? That I'm attending a workshop so that makes Adam Mizner my Sifu? So you can disparagingly refer to him as my Sifu as you have in the past? Does that spark joy for you?

I spent two days with Dong Zheng Chen this spring, that doesn't make him my Sifu either. Just someone who lead a workshop I attended.

I apologize for offending you by saying you spread blatant falsehoods. We can just chalk it up to a difference of opinion regarding the use of the term and what implications it carries. Now can you drop it?

Call it what you like. I just don't kid myself about having a relationship with the guy. I'm consuming his product. I don't represent him, he doesn't represent me. I don't owe him, he doesn't owe me. I like his material and get a lot out of it.
