Her background as a pro wushu athlete shows. She has excellent movement skills. The applications are surprisingly good except for a few. Notice the high quality video production andthe quality of the school. Japan attracts high quality kungfu teachers because the Japanese train hard and are willing to pay good money for it.
Time to put the QUAN back in taijiQUAN. Time to put the YANG back in YANG style taiji.

Actually I have to agree with both quoted viewpoints. She's probably between 40 and 50 (maybe even a little older, hard to tell with some Chinese ladies), has great athleticism by any standards and even more so for her age, and also seems like a nice, fun person. But my gut feeling says that there's not much martial juice inside her movements, neither Bagua nor Chen Taiji. And in the demonstrated Bagua applications she moves pretty fast but is not really interacting with or transforming her partner's energy. (Using 'energy' in the loose physics-related sense here, not "qi".) If the partner actually exerted force directly on her, I think she would buckle. ...And I know smaller women with good training for whom that is not the case...
Do not make the mistake of giving up the near in order to seek the far.

Her basic stepping is completely wrong and is the way almost all sport wushu athletes who learn Bagua as a competition form do it. I have seen this far too often.

For sure she has the good physical conditioning from being an athlete, but that doesnt mean we can look over all the problems with the bagua and taiji. Its full of "performance flourishes" and frankly this type of dishonesty which is deliberate by such people is hugely problematic.

What type of dishonesty? That such people don't distinguish/label it as performance art rather than traditional martial art?

What is hugely problematic about it? Just curious.

Her husband is Tamotsu Miyahira, age 55.

Excerpt from "TAMOTSU MIYAHIRA - JAPANESE MARTIAL ARTIST:"

BIOGRAPHY

Tamotsu Miyahira (宮平 保, Miyahira Tamotsu, born March 25, 1964) is a Japanese practitioner of Chinese martial arts. He is the Head Teacher of the Tian Xing Jian Chinese Martial Arts Association, and has been teaching Chinese martial arts in Okinawa, the birthplace of karate, since 1990. He has taught Chinese martial arts to teachers of a variety of different martial arts
(including karate, iai, and full contact karate) from all over Japan as well as overseas.

Tamotsu Miyahira began learning Shorin-ryu traditional Okinawan karate at the age of 10. At high school he also started full contact karate and weight training.

After this, he studied martial arts for five years at Wuhan Sports University in Hubei province, China. Here he studied traditional Chinese martial arts under Wen Jing Ming and Liu Yu Hua.

Whilst studying in China, Miyahira had many opportunities to practice techniques with masters of many different styles from all over China including Mei Hua, Hsing I, Hei Fu, Wen Zhou Nan Chuan, Ton Bei and Ba Ji.

In 1989, Miyahira graduated from Wuhan Sports University. In that year, he also married Song Li, a former member of the Szechuan martial arts team and winner of the National Martial Art sparring division in 1984, 1986, and 1987.
