I found similarities btw Samart and Willi Pep. I see less of Ali in his footwork.

God bless Willie Pep!

So unfortunate that he's not as well known - he deserves a place right up there with the Robinson and Co's

Over 200 fights and hardly anyone could lay a hand on him.

What impressed me in the video was Willie Pep's control of risk. He was enough in command of his craft to engage and disengage at his choosing--most of the time. He got tagged with some stout ones!

His first pro fight was in 1940. His last was in 1966. That in itself is very impressive.

Edit: Not sure how, but I got the wrong link in my post. Here's what I meant to post, Pep's record: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willie_Pe ... ing_record

I define internal martial art as unusual muscle recruitment and leave it at that. If my definition is incomplete, at least it is correct so far as it goes.

Always loved him. His footwork was a thing of pure beauty.

Yeah the 'cos it's been too long' was a reference to the last thread here a few years back, which was yours.
