Interview with Chong Xie on Silk Reeling/Fascia

The method of practicing this boxing art is nothing more than opening and closing, passive and active. The subtlety of the art is based entirely upon their alternations. Chen Xin

The claim it’s Taiji silk power related is interesting. But I really don’t see any resemblance.
Secondly is he an athlete ? What is his achievements under such training scheme?

Oh, he says that currently there's no one who has as much knowledge as him. ::) (Well, that's one red flag...)

IMHO, fascia is extremely overrated and mostly highly misunderstood. I hear nothing here that is different or more knowledgeable than most self-acclaimed expert and pro-fascia martial artists.

Better to listen to a real expert. Ken Gullette made a podcast episode with Dr. Ginevra Liptan, a medical doctor who specialises in fascia. If you haven't listened to it, I suggest you do.

I haven't seen his training so I can't say. A basic requirement for silk reeling is that you're song and it usually takes years of training to loosen and relax the legs so I'm suspect of his claim. Training fascia doesn't mean you're training silk reeling.

He's a trainer. He discusses improvements in Zhang Weili's performance under his training.

I looked but couldn't find him doing any martial arts
Anyone else come across any
Saying that there is nothing wrong with the training but his theory is a bit wonkie
Don't put power into the form let it naturally arise from the form

Regardless of theory, all his stuff is bouncing around on the toes. If anyone's taiji is done with standard boxing/MMA footwork like what's shown, I would like to see it. Then we can talk about the correlation between his stuff and taiji.

Similar to what other folks have said, he'll have a lot more credibility when he can produce more than a single fighter who was already a genetic superfreak using his methods.
