Yan Long Chang, Dai Xin Yi Quan, Si Ba (4 strikes) unedited

Postby Dai Zhi Qiang on Fri Dec 19, 2008 4:00 am

Here is my Shifu, Yan Long Chang performing, Si Ba (4 strikes). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPfunZbl_AU

Si Ba is very important and contains much practical movements for combat, linking a lot of combinations together and in nature is very aggressive. In this form are methods for breaking the neck, striking dan tian, shoulder methods, groin attacks, striking the heart, etc.

I was trying to upload another version of this, but my imovie Kung Fu is weak and trying to put a movie together (unsuccessfully) I destroyed one of my video's, lol, saving the edited version and wiping out part of it, haha. I am lucky I have a couple of friends who I gave copies to, so I will replace it with that version later, though basically they are the same.

I am rambling.

If anyone is interested in our style, check out my blog http://daixinyi.blogspot.com/ where I put up all the current information I have in English. I have a lot more in Chinese, but due to my language barrier (wo putonghua shou de bu hao, lol), it is a long process to get anything translated as I am reliant on friends to do it for me in their free time.

I am going to be replacing all the other versions of the video's on my you-tube page as well, call it a Xmas present for the brothers on EF.

I have some photo's of some Dai Xin Yi Quan applications, so I will put them up on my blog as soon as time allows. Now I am managing a restaurant, so not much free time to do anything, though interesting enough I am still training pretty much every day.

Regards

Thanks for the Xmas present, Jon - not easy to stay rooted on a polished wood floor without rubber soles!

I got some more coming, but I was too tired to write a caption for the photo, I will try and put up some applications for all of the 5 elements.

The Master is excellent. But he does his form a little lazy.
Pictures are nice. Thank you. :)

Respectfully I don't think you know what you are talking about.

The tempo of the form is not supposed to be at full force or at full speed for all of the movements if that is what you are talking about. Dai Xin Yi Quan is rou/gang (soft/hard) there should be a combination of those 2 powers evident in the form, which you can see.

Forget the video, the article posted has good, solid information about conditioning and development.
And the stuff mentioned in there isn't peculiar to Dai Xin Yi I think...
Be nice if someone could actually get a vid up of an articulate and developed beer bell...er dantien, without silk jammies hiding everything :)

I won't be able to get access to any video of my teacher for a while, until I go back to China, which won't be anytime soon.

Though I agree this is something which needs to be seen, I am yet to meet anyone with the same type of internal development as my teacher.

Of course, I don't have any idea - I do not practice Dai Xin Yi.
But when I told about "laziness", I have not spoken about the tempo.

Could you perhaps explain to us about this "laziness" that you perceive, Doc?

D.

Sarcasm. Oh yeah, like that´ll work.

Yeh, I am quite interested as to what you think you perceive.
