Some folks from Wei Peilin line, a clip from 1996

Both Yao Jizu and Wei Peilin learned from Li Xunzhi, who was Li Yiyu's son. My Wu style master Zhai Weichuan learned from Wei Peilin first, and when that passed away continued learning from Yao Jizu.

???

Somehow I'm not able to understand the meaning of this statement...

The first clip is Yao Jizu demonstrating Wu 武 style, just small pieces of demonstrations from various periods, not in any chronological order unfortunately. Actually the second demonstration is the earliest, it was at the big Taijiquan meeting in Wuhan in 1984, so you can see a bit younger Yao Jizu there. Beginning and further parts are from 1990s, some might be close to 1998, when he passed away.

Unlike modern Hao which has one standard long form, Old Wu has several different frames and forms. It’s a very complex and varied system. I do agree with Wayne that the different clips represent different frames.

Different frames of a style is not the same as different styles. Anyway there is not even a difference of a frame here. The differences in the first clip are more a result of demonstrations made by Yao Jizu being at different age.

The second clip is of course different story. But Wayne was talking about the first clip.

It's the same form. Frames however represent different focuses. Sometimes it's very hard to see differences if you don't exactly know what you are looking for.

The same form is demonstrated in the clips below, by the same master. Still they are performed using different frames:

"Coiling Frame"

"Waist Power Frame"

Master class level stuff here. I never would have thought of that, but it makes total sense, seeing it now.

Actually my intention was to say old clips, not old style :-)

To avoid mixing the Wu styles up I used the chinese character 武.

The Wu Jianquan (Wu Ch'ien Ch'uan) style is written with 吴.
