The obvious problem is that the taiji community in general doesn't value this material at all and most taiji teachers don't have it so the style doesn't prepare you to fight or compete.

Would not agree with what is being characterized as the "obvious" problem.
If the community doesn't value what one is seeking, why would it be a problem for those seeking what is taught, oriented to what "they" value?

If one is looking for something expecting something that is clearly not there, maybe they have the problem.

In my experience, a problem for some may be due to their lack of empirical experience versus theoretical knowledge not being able to
understand the difference.

Taiji, somewhat unique in this aspect with very clear numerous "theoretical" guidelines documenting skillsets, gained through specialized practices such as "push hands" among others. Most often taught within very restrictive contexts facilitating the differentiation needed to make "theoretical" based skills become empirically experienced.

For some, this may be enough.
Unfortunately if they'er not "aware" it may leave gaps in their understanding / skill level, relative to application outside of a specific context.
Being good in "push hands" does not equate to being good outside of push hands...

Would say it's quite common among methods / styles emphasizing specific skill sets developed to a high-level. Many having contest within the context of developed skills, emphasizing skills / methods developed.

TKD, BJJ, Judo ect, examples of this , with some being able to bridge the gap a little more easier to use than others outside of their restrictive contest

In the OP's clip the claim of "taiji master" used to insinuate the person is a high level representation of those studying Taiji,
inferring a common narrative presented by those seeking to outline a view point for "what ever" reason.

Agreed that the man seen in the OP video was definitely NOT a Tai-Chi Chuan master of any style. It is totally absurd to claim or believe that he is. It is also equally absurd and unfair to disparage all practitioners of every style by implying that this video accurately represents the results of all TCC training, apparently in order to justify the negative personal bias of the poster, who interestingly claims to be a 10 year practitioner and teacher of TCC himself. :o ::)

Don't worry about them.
I heard an interview of one of the early inventors of the web say:

Sarcasm and ridicule are the oil of the Internet.
"Today's Net-Citizens are a slightly cynical, seen-it-all-before generation,"

And, Taiji Masters have been writing about the ill trained for over 100 hundred years.
We often see one who has practiced hard for many years yet is unable to perform any neutralizations and is generally under the opponent’s control…

If you have practiced hard for many years but still make the errors...then you will inevitably sometimes be under the opponent’s control, incapable of neutralizing fast enough.

Besides, just like Fake Taiji masters can be good business:
The best fakes get famous and have a lot suggestible students.

Well, Take down of fake masters can be good business too.
So those that take down charlatans are rewarded by clicks & channel subscribers
Receiving likes & acceptance, from the ignorant.
And, acceptance can be too powerful to pass up
Especially, if you don’t have a lot of "likes" when off the web.

Ultimately, they are what they practice.
If all they do is practice internet takedowns of fake masters,
well they become the master of fakes.

The irony is, I find that most of them are part of the community that lacks skill that they complain about
you hear them admit they studied for many years but they came up short.
So, it's natural for them they think
Hey, everybody lacks Taiji skills.

I say forget about them
They just distract from your own practice.
If you get the goods
That's way more rewarding
than the topic of fakes

Lastly, as a genius once said,
Image

I say,
post a great takedown of a fake Taiji master
and people will ignore you're a dog :D

Agreed. Good points. Also, anyone can be an anonymous keyboard 'expert' online, but talking with their hands in person, perhaps not so much. :-\
