* Otherwise I believe PH should consist of free moving footwork, with Sweeps, throws and Locks. That's how prefer to do it, if at all.

I don't think that's bad at all. In fact the opposite. Those dudes are fairly big and strong yes, but they are also showing some skill.

I saw a trip/sweep, throws and balance displacement. Only thing missing would be allowing locks IMO.

Seems to me the earlier videos show barely any taiji skill at all. At least the competitor in the video Yeung posted (Xiu Shuyu) is trying to use proper taiji concepts (root, peng, using shenfa to disperse force, even saw one pluck in there)!

While others may disagree, I've always felt that PH is meant to be a form of cooperative two-man training that builds connection, structure, and sensitivity. That is why turning PH into a competition simply defeats its purpose.

Lively, sure, but if you're diverging from principle are you really getting the full benefit?
I mean if you want to spar, spar. If you want to roll or fight, do that.
Push hands, in my opinion, is not realistic. It's fun, it's critical to developing taijiquan skills, but if you're doing push hands to convince yourself your shit works in a realistic self defense encounter, you're just deluding and cheating yourself.

Hahaha! I learned at an early age that "I'll think about it" usually means NO, so don't get your hopes up, because it probably ain't gonna happen. My mom was an expert at deflecting and delaying the final disappointment in this way.
