Grandmaster Wang (Taiwan) doing some Pushhands in Beijings Jietai Temple.
The Guy at the beginning of the clip who looks like a Beginner was himself a highskilled Student of Grandmaster, with whom I touched hands several times!

At the end of the clip Wang Laoshi get pushed while standing on ONE Leg. The Pusher outweights Grandmaster Wang clearly but could not move him! The hands were just lightly on the arms of the pusher.
At the end he uses his waist to move the pusher out of Balance!
Remember: Wang Laoshi is 82 Years old!!!

He’s demonstrating a lot of the principles being discussed on the other threads. Silk reeling, emptiness, intention
etc.

Single-handed play, much harder to do than double handed
Really requires a shift in thinking in order to do some of the things he demonstrates.

I believe that was the late Mike Martello's last teacher - in a very personal conversation Mike told me that he had truly found the "internal" in Wang Laoshi - Mike was a straight up no BS Brooklyn New Yorker and believe he found it

Yes, Mike was Wang's indoor, so to say. Master Wang also taught Mantis, Yue Jia and else, a real treassure, too bad no real successor.

Mike introduced me to Master Wang and he was a really great guy. He was the youngest of the "masters" that came from China with the KMT and was still teaching 8-step mantis, shuaijiao, yue shi, etc. back then. I pushed with him and his people freestyle. I let Wang push without resistance but after pushing with Wang I was handed off to a top student and I let him push me once then he felt I was a pushover so the second attempt I neutralized then the third attempt on his part got him thrown. After that, it was back and forth until they got frustrated. Not to toot my own horn, it's just that IMO they did too much cooperative play and most groups don't visit other groups but I did. People that don't openly play with others often think far too highly of their own skills and don't come into contact with people that won't feed them what they want to make their stuff work. Mike hopped in to save face and he and I were good friends so I just stuck to neutralizing.

After Wang died his son took over (not sure if that's him above) and the group fell apart. Lot's of woo-woo nonsense and shenanigans. 8-step mantis, the shuai jiao and qinna, all got taken out in favor of hippety-hop antics. I want to be very clear: they couldn't make any of this above work against me.

Mike and Wang Laoshi, Basic Push Hands practicing summer 2006.
You will see no magic here, just grounded ideas that can help in ones arsenal of skills. Listening, neutralizing, connecting and following are the concepts teacher Wang implies are the basics for building ting-jing... Loads of fun to practice...

I respect Mike and his teacher has some skill
There are things he does here that are just fake
Especially when he uses one hand high above his head to throw someone
Just not possible
Don't put power into the form let it naturally arise from the form

mmmm,, lets see how that works...

What one can do is "possible" what one can not "is not"

fake
a thing that is not genuine; a forgery or sham.

Are you suggesting that what the teacher was doing, was fake and that Mike,,, participated in it

Gao Zhuang Fei TaiJi tui so - ENG subtitles - Part 1

May help to explain how some of what is questioned is done....

He talks of "peng" in a very different way than what some have outlined.
One that follows my teacher's and my usage of the concept...

I am not talking about the clip with Mike but the one featured here
I don’t know if it is prearranged of just the student putting it on
Other times the pushes are great and real
Does that make my statement any clearer

Thanks,,, :)

Often find that sometimes what looks fake, is real but maybe not well understood due to experience and level.

In Chinese it's quite clear, with in their language using terms they used to express what's happening.

Often by those using Chinese terms trying to tie them to english equivalence it's not the same.

The clip with teacher Gao Zhuang Fei, should help many non Chinese speakers understand a different perspective from a Chinese view point.
By a noted practitioner of Wu style taiji...
