Wang Wenyong 王文永 was born in 1933 and passed away in 2017. He was a famous older generation Shuai Jiao champion and student of Jin Baosheng 金宝生 (Born 1908). Wang Wenyong has dedicated his entire life to the practice, development and spread of Shuai Jiao and even spread it to Europe (France).

This is an old short documentary produced a few years prior to him passing away. I have subtitled, dubbed and added relevant information to it for the international community to enjoy.

Great documentary, amazing that Wang was travelling and teaching well into his 80s, RIP. Crazy that even with teaching for free it is difficult to find students inside China these days.

Indeed. Incidentally, last week the government made Shuai Jiao a mandatory part of school physical education here. We will see how this plays out, because unfortunately organic growth is never implemented correctly here and government mandates never encourage genuine interest in a subject....

For me, the most fascinating part of the documentary is the segment where he mentions how Kimura's Judo teacher, Tatsukuma Ushijima, actually went to China and competed against Chinese wrestlers, defeating up to 80% of all the ones he fought.

In TMA circles, we often hear stories (or unverified anecdotes) about how Chinese boxers defeating Japanese and Western fighters in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but seldom do we hear ones about foreign fighters defeating their Chinese counterparts on Chinese soil.
