I think proper blade technique is primarily important to cut through a limb in one motion and to prevent other mistakes that can make your edge get stuck so as to fluidly move from opponent to opponent while keeping yourself safe

Well, like 30 seconds in, you perform what a western sword fighter would call a tent block, and then you guide the theoretical edge of your opponent's weapon onto your forearm, pointed at your face, while you put your own weapon behind your head.

C'mon, guys! This video was made 34 years ago. For those who maintain a longterm training regimen, personal skills are usually refined and improved considerably over the course of three decades time. As such, the OP video probably doesn't represent Wayne's current skill level. That said, what did your practice look like 34 years ago?

Deconstructing the problem with this situation is good fodder for a video for the rest of you to criticize me. Shouldn't you be encouraging that?
