Hard wooden boards to be thrown down onto? Luxury!! When we folks were young tai chi students, our master used to dislocate our arms with black-hand throws, rupture our spleens, knock us unconscious and hurl us onto jagged rocks covered in broken glass and scorpions. For hours on end! And you know what? We were pathetically grateful!!

Do not make the mistake of giving up the near in order to seek the far.

but dude, everyones a 'fall guy' in compliant technique training.
the same training in ALL martial arts.

do you think bjj, Judo or wrestlers learn and drill techniques only when someone is trying to stuff it or fightback.

Context.

when people post competition or peers tai chi grappling, you get (edit.) another kind of complaint, someone posts this kind of technique work, you get this kind of complaint..

I mean is it just the grumpiness of your age Wayne ? ;D

Fixed

I've only ever had my training partners practice 9 Temple qigong for their first year in developing tjq body and fighting method as it's all one really needs for applying tjq's ideas in a practical/functional manner.

Here's one of my training partners with nine months of training (blue gloves) in his first MMA match demonstrating Corn Grinding, Mirror Polishing, Advance-Retreat, Prayer Wheel, etc against a Team Quest guy (red gloves) who had 4 years of collegiate wrestling in addition to the training he he'd done with Randy Couture. The match went to decision after 3 five-minute rounds of non-stop this:
