Push Hands is not about you pushing the opponent; especially it's not about the teacher pushing the students. My students know I can push them with ease and people who know me know I can. Real skills are in how you take it when others come at you full strength-trying their best.
In this video I told Jeff to come at me however he wants and I'm just going to defend myself. Look for the many ways I used to counter his attacks. Neutralization, abortion, interception, prevention, redirection and more. Once you master some of these skills-the real Tai Chi skills, everything else is easy.
Note: When one only defends, it's much harder because the other person doesn't have to worry about defending. At time it may not seems like he's push hard, but he is but I'm blocking his energy from coming up.

nice thanks
great chilled exploration going on for both parties in this exercise.
Refreshing to see a teacher of his standing putting this out there.

I've done the 'attack-defend' thing quite a lot, in all manner of drill types, this one included.

it's easier to defend better with the defensive skills and methods than when you're also combining attacking.
just a case of being more focused on it I guess and you leave no countering opportunity - which may be the main reason.

I’m glad he is wearing shorts - you can see his calves working.

He's got a couple videos out of him practicing on the beach without a shirt.
