I've met Sifu Jacob, a kung fu expert who claims that kung fu is 90% wrestling. Here's what I learned from him.

No, I don’t agree though I have nothing against his own interpretations of different movements. However, a move or a posture can be a punch, qinna, takedown or a throw, it depends on your own preference, interest and interpretation. And even if you do a takedown or a throw, it still doesn’t mean that it must be wrestling.

I agree
It is like when Mcarthy found white crane
Suddenly there were no blocks in karate
Everything is in tai chi you just need to know where to look
The Kung fu guy says a few good things but a lot of it is just talking
Especially the stuff about the masters not having the good stuff but their drunken students having it
His applications are also a bit off at times
When he shows BNTS he actually does SW getting the feet reversed
I followed that clip to one on Romas and some other guy rating different martial arts against one another
Just like this one I agreed with half the other half was quite off
Rather than just training and getting on with it they get caught up in the cult of martial celebrity
Don't put power into the form let it naturally arise from the form

Just because you can invent wrestling applications to what are obvious strikes does not mean it all came from wrestling. I’m continually baffled by the long line of ‘experts’ who profess this view. Particularly in karate.

It's amazing how far some people will go to avoid learning actual grappling ;D
