Tricky business!
The man who challenged Chen Xiaowang a decade or more ago learned some type and level of tuishou and his 'pattern' appeared "formless" like some baquazhang and wingchun adherents who use rolling hands as part of conditioning and training.

The first teacher in the video is Jiang Zongbao from Shanghai who I studied with for a short period of time. There's definitely no fakery going on in the video - he is famous in Shanghai taiji circles for being able to 'take on' much stronger, heavier guys. He studied a mix of Old Yang (Tian branch) and Hao style. When pushing on him you feel like you just cannot affect his centre, and he has v strong pengjin even in situations where his structure is 'broken' (bei shi).
