Damo sits down with Adam Mizner of Heaven Man Earth Taiji to smoke cigars, drink whisky and chat about various aspects of the internal arts after they completed a month of practice in Bali, Indonesia.
This was an informal chat where various topics were covered BUT we had a couple of issues:
Firstly, there was an issue with Adam's mic which meant that it cut in and out. We had to edit the footage because of this and so some of Adam's parts were silent and so removed from the video. We managed to keep most of it though, but this is why you will see some edits in the footage when Adam is speaking.
Secondly, as they became more drunk, so did the camera! This is why you will notice that it slips down in an inebriated slump towards the end of the discussion....
Apologies for all this but still, we think it is a good and somewhat blunt chat between two friends at Christmas.

I raised two kids in the same area
One was a leading graffiti artist so spent a lot of time on the wilder side
It is a holiday destination mainly retired people
I believe he attended the Southport School the leading private school

Adam Mizner is apparently a very smart cookie because despite not learning how to train properly in Chinese internal arts (29:55 and on) he was able to take what he knew from other non-Chinese and external arts and put that knowledge into Tai Chi.

I suppose this is why Adam and Damo spend so much time criticizing tradition and formality as "wannabe". Because for them, the tradition failed them. But I think this is really just sour grapes on their part. I am happy it all worked out for them in the end. Edit: To be clear, there is a certain something to saying, "we will be free and easy and do our own thing, like supple grass and not like broken twigs".

But I feel it is wrong to look down upon traditions and lineage. There is a certain conviction that is invaluable that comes from being a part of something greater than yourself. A certain feeling of having it all figured out or at worst, relying on your teacher and classmates. If I was learning from someone and there was no guiding light I would wonder if I was swimming in the dark.
