From 1972 to 1982, in the heart of the Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco, many people studied T"ai Chi Ch'uan and Shaolin martial arts with Bing Gong. Bing was a student of Kuo Lin Ying, Fong Ha, and Adam Hsu.

Like the Tam Tui and the dagger form is interesting
Don't put power into the form let it naturally arise from the form

This video shows various alternative exercises specific to Kuo Lien Ying's Northern Shaolin.
These are taught in conjuction to the Taolu (fixed form) sets of Tan Tui, Cha Chuan and Erh Long.

The first section shows beginning exercises that are often taught before beginning the forms so teach stance, kicking, foundation and transitions. The intermediate and advance exercises help to increase mobility and range of motion, and are valuable later when transitioning into more free form practice of the Shaolin as will be demonstrated in much later videos.

Interesting to see, but they don’t seem out of the ordinary for long fist style basics (such as I was taught). I would be a bit worried about the trajectory of that punch he is throwing, though.

It is so pleasant to see someone doing things in a reasonable manner.
