Master Jou & Me with Sam Masich

For clarification purposes the "me" in the title is in reference to Sam Masich - I've never met him but know of him

I understand how controversial Jou Tsung Hwa was and is but this is really a nice entry into his background - regardless of where you stand with him I think it is worth listening to if you are interested in him.

As I stated previously, I spent 4 summer sessions at his Tai Chi Farm and regardless of what one thinks of his teachings, my time there was a worthwhile learning experience.

What Sam Masich says about Jou Tsung Hwa is the way I remember him.

Sam Masich recalls his experiences with Master Jou Tsung-Hwa from 1988-1998.

Maybe worth reading? Anyone read it?

Sam Masich’s new book, Foundations of Traditional Taijiquan, is a contemporary classic, and belongs on the reading pile of any Taijiquan student.

Masich presents an articulate, insightful and in-depth analysis of Taiji theory and practice that is grounded in his thorough mastery of both the substance and the literary tradition of his topic. Masich has invested decades of textual study and personal contemplation into his research, which he shares in text that is readable and accessible to all levels of practitioner.

With this book, Masich joins such writer/masters as Andrea Falk and David Gaffney & Davidine Sim by publishing an essential “contemporary classic” of English-language material on Chinese martial arts.

After forty years of study, Sam Masich has achieved what I consider to be a substantial and impressive level of depth and understanding in taijiquan. Now, it is his turn to share what he has discovered through his personal experiences over the past few decades. I sincerely believe Foundations of Traditional Taijiquan will become a guide for practitioners of all internal styles.
