Nice video.
If you visit the clip on YouTube there is a positive comment from Mike Martello. He says that the guy is in Beijing.
I've always thought that Chen Taiji and Bagua make a nice fit because they both emphasize spiraling movement; this clip seems to bear that out. ;)

Yep, this is BlackTaoist's Yin Bagua teacher, though he seems to put more emphasis on Chen Taiji (from Feng Zhi-qiang's line).

His Taiji form makes me wince, but application-wise...yes, very tasty indeed.

A couple of my students trained with him on a trip to china. They said his Chinna was real good ... and he liked thumb locks! :D

cheers

Hi!

Well Andy, you are close enough.
Xu laoshi was a student of the late Tian Xiuchen laoshi, and was accepted as a disciple in '81 or '82 AFAIR, just as my teacher. After Tian laoshi's death he learned from Feng Zhiqiang laoshi as well, but as I know he hasn't became a disciple, and I don’t know the length of this period.
He is quite fighting oriented in his approach, and emphasizes the qin na techniques very much. I would say he is quite …brutal…
His apps are quite fine and brutal as well, as I see. ;D

I have to add, that I haven’t know him personally, this is just what I have heard... :)

Thanks for the comments. Interesting. So this is BTs main teacher? No? Would be interesting to hear his about his experience with this guy.

I like the no-nonsense attitude. And he seem to have a good precision and control over what he does. ... I bet there will soon be someone sayin' that this ain't internal. :-X :D

Chud, I think Mike saw the vid here and commented on it there directly. Thanks for pointing that out. "good down to earth Kung-Fu", that was a nice way of putting it. 8-)
