Anyways John, I hope there will be no bad blood between us.

John I don't think you ever showed me a BGZ form just some single palm change.

You do need a connected body for good throwing. Its great practice and tons of fun.

You know, one thing I find funny is that in a lot of internal styles you see dramatic forward leans and yet there are people who will go on a tirade about how it compromises zhong ding blah blah blah. To me a forward lean is one hallmark of quality neijia styles. :)

Difficult to throw somebody without leaning.

There may be a downside in leaning, if you leaned forward and got punched in the nose. I don't tend to lean forward when I spar unless I'm overextending to hit someone who's trying to get away.

If you lean dynamically and there's a counterbalance from the other side of your body then it's just part of your range of motion.

If you are leaning because your body is continually twisted into that position and you have to spend any effort at all to rectify the quality of your structure then it's a problem that needs to be rectified.

QFT

I think this was very well said. When you bend your knees, your arms are bent, together with the leaning, you align your whole body in a triangular manner. This principle of structural alignment is the same in all of the "three sisters" styles.

nor do i want to water down my BGZ system.

my "suckage level" is just a little higher than some and worse than others.

JW looked at my form one day, he said that I have no talent for pretty forms.
i do okay at SC matches for the most part.
that is the only part im happy about.

Hmm, now I am really curious about your forms! :D

As for baguazhang, just practicing walking the circle is good enough - the forms will get better eventually... As long as you concentrate on the principles (for posture), it will look alright.

This thread needs a little less conversation a little more action.

mix,

i think your teaching will really help you learn and improve what you have been taught. teaching is great practice!
just make sure the students understand that you are learning too and i think you have nothing to worry about and a lot to gain.

regarding your clip.

it looks like you could work on your hips and legs to add some more fluidity, strength and flexibility to your movements ...
i have been working on "snake" and "dragon" from my gao stuff with a similar posture.(lots of pain!!) i will do the snake mother palm change many times in a row some times fast some times very slow and i will hold it in different places through out the movement. i have seen/felt a bit of improvement in the past few months but have a ways to go.

also ...

defining double palm change. does this simple mean you have changed directions 2 times?

one of the i think fun practice i have recently learned in practicing palm changes is to do inside/outside/inside/inside/inside/outside/outside/inside changes maybe not in that exact order but the idea i think is to learn how to keep changing.

around 10 seconds you go inside then outside on your clip ... does the above make sense?

why? to see my massiveSuckage in forms?
to me posting a form is just mental masturbation.
why would you want feedBack from someOne that doesNot understand it.
there is always going to be someOne that think you shit is fake.

my BGZ forms sucks and im still working on it.
if you wanna see good BGZ look at Luo or Marcus.....
i dont wanna ruin their good names with my own suckage in forms.

SC has some form but it is really only couple moves, not much to look at.

i rather get the review from my own teacher to fix it up.
for the most part only 5% of my work is in forms anyway.

mix's BGZ is prob better looking than my.
im not into the pretty dancing form.

i do lots 2men drills, equipment training, and SC matches most of the time.

i dont mind posting drills, since it really helps everyOne.
here is one of SC drill that i like to do:

BTW this is one of our drill in the SC eClass by JW at the other site. (SHAMELESS PLUG)
