I feel the same. I think if you describe more orthodox hebei, then many aspects won't fit sun-style. It is softer and more compact. Therefore, the jin sometimes the jin feels more like shanxi than hebei. It is also often practiced a little bit slower and the jin is sometimes not very evident. I think you can compare it a bit with those Wang Shujin clips at youtube. This is how I can best describe the Sun flavor I have met. But remember that many practicing sun xy also practice taiji and/or bagua, so this often have an "impact" on the practitioners XY. Sun Lutang also studied shanxi and song XY, so Sun style is definitively some kind of mix, not regular hebei, even if many people seem to think that this is how "regular" or "orthodex" hebei should look like.
