That is me, but I is doing XingYi Chicken, not Baji. There's a bigger pic on my blog. That posture looks very similar to the famous Baji elbow strike, but the intention is slightly different. I have so far resisted all attempts by my teacher to teach me Baji - I have enough on my plate!

Hey Graham!

The moves are named in the description of the video as being Yun method, elephant and lion forms. I'm not yet familiar with that system. From what I know of it, it's supposed to be an answer to Zhang ZhaoDong's xingyi-bagua-palm. It has a lot of circular and semi-circular movements, lots of coiling and uncoiling. A very interesting system, IMO, and, from the little I've played with it, very effective.

All right... here's an anecdote. Master Yang likes to demo the application for us on the "heavier" guy of our class (around 280 lbs). He likes it because he can really show how it works with some decent power. Once, he showed us a double handed push after a counter and he really drives it in. The guy goes flying only to get caught by master Yang before he hits the ground. Now by itself, that demo was cool. The next class, the guy shows up with this dark circle of a bruise right on the spot where master Yang pushed him – not punched him, *PUSHED* him. I'll tell you what, it makes you think twice when we get turns in getting shown an application.
