Powerful Karate

Postby grzegorz on Mon Sep 28, 2009 12:35 am

I don't know much about Karate but this looks like some interesting training.

It looks very CMA-ish to me.

Can anyone tell me who this is?

Looking at this guy reminds me of someone who has been doing karate for 6 months to 1 year. If you notice all the boards break more or less exactly in half and with incredibly straight break lines. If you get a very thin, but wide, piece of wood - like so thin that you can bend with your hands, when you snap it, the break line is seldom if ever straight. Go figure.

It could be that he isn't a typical Karate guy but most Karate guys lock up their bodies and are stiff with unnatural deep stances and straight line movements.

The board breaking didn't impress me as much as his natural looking movements. It may or may not be karate but it looks a lot more useful than most of the McDojo stuff I've seen.

What I liked about it is that his striking reminded me of a lot of tree hitting I saw Xinyi guys doing in Shanghai.

I was just curious if anyone knew anything about him.

The push break clip on his youtube channel in which he displays a form of inch power is more interesting to me.

In "The five principles: Part 1," he actually shows a bit of structure test as well.

This guy has figured out a better way of delivering power than the typical Karate folks, but the applications he shows are still the rigid "1-2" combo in which the opponent throws a punch, I block, punch back -- then done!

In the video he shows board breaks from various positions simluating the vital areas on the opponent's body in application in an attempt to prove he has enough power to deliver a "one-strike-kill" with a hit. But anyone who's ever sparred with an unccorperative partner knows it just doesn't work that way.
