Video footage shot in Taiwan from 1990-2008. Instructional demonstrations done by Grandmaster Gene Chicoine and his students from the Ho Chun School of Chinese Martial Arts in Akron Ohio. Footage was shot in various places including Political Warfare College in Taipei, Taipei Central Police University, Tainan, Kaishung and Ping Tung. Person Demonstrating in this video is Shawn Slonsky. The concept behind this style when used for fighting is to hit then throw. These well placed strikes generally take your opponent out before you even get him off his feet. When he hits the ground it's usually over but if not there are a miriad of other applications that can come into play at that point.

My name is Shawn Slonsky. I represent the Ho Chun school of Chinese Martial arts. This video shows two of my students doing some combat style throws. They are Chris Genet and Chris Klingerman. They have been training with me for almost four years and two years respectively. We are located in Akron Ohio and are looking for athletes to train to compete in MMA and San Shou to promote our Shuai Chiao. This Shuai Chiao illistrates combat applications that were taught by my Teacher GM Gene Chicoine 13th disciple of GM Chang Dung Sheng.

This is Dr Weng demonstrating shuai chiao throws on his student Mark Miller at the Ohio State University in 1986 as part of a Chinese New Year celebration. The continuation of this video, Gene Chiccoine's martial arts demo, is posted as well.

Tremendous SC demo by Weng....very smooth, quick and decisive. Compared to him, Chicoine's boys looks stilted, but I suppose he was a maestro.

Loved GM Chang's Taiji, but thought his HsingI looked a bit...is 'stilted' the word?

Which vid has Chang's Hsing-I? I've seen a clip of it before (maybe a different one) and it looked smooth and powerful...

Troy:

The clip of GM Chang posted on this very page. First he does Taijin, then HsingI then SC.

Ah, got it. I dunno, I though it looked pretty decent. Of course I think his Tai Chi was even smoother and more powerful, but I liked his Hsing-I as well...

great clips!

Always great to see old Master's like GM Chang on film, really can see the real skill and power- I liked his Tai Chi alot. Shuai Chiao superb, decades perfecting. must have hurt like hell to get thrown by him even in practice or demo.
