More Capoeira!

Agile motherfuckers!

Before you start criticizing it as a fighting style, remember that what you see here is just a game.

I-mon!

It is angola isn't it? Or related somehow...

I have loved it! It is more martial, than some so called martial arts! Timing, angles, positions, flow! Good play!

Thanks for sharing!

Yeah it's Angola, from the group of Mestre Marrom in Rio De Janeiro - shows some differences to some of the more 'orthodox' capoeira angola from Bahia.

Hi I-Mon,

Could you tell me what these guys are working on when they play this game?

Thanks

Conn

Walk -
That head butt where he sat the other guy on his butt
is what they are working on.

Hey Conn.

the basic rules of the game are that only the feet, hands and head are allowed to touch the ground. the targets for attack are the head/face, chest, ribs and stomach, the footsweep, and the 'part horses mane' or 'single palm change' type throw.

the most important attributes being worked on are relaxation and adaptability or agility, mental as well as physical - the idea is to never get stuck, no matter what the position or situation.

That really does look like a lot of fun.

That's really nice Angola game. Some movements I haven't seen--I've done Angola under Nego Gato--like the jumping over the partner stuff, reminded me of Parkour.
Angola often plays low to the ground with a lot of body movements/angles to block your partner, head butts, sweeps, head and handstand kicks. You can also play Angola in small spaces if you don't do the fancier jumping kicks that are characteristic of Regional but also taught in Angola.
