Thats some crappy background.

Do you guys understand what the old man says?

He was trying to demonstrate one principle, and he was illustrating the differences between applying the principle and not applying the principle.

Essentially, when he was pushed over, he used his waist to accept the force. If he empties his waist and "sung" his leg and qua, he can take the pushes without falling over. The last demo he said he empties his waist and changing yin and yang (oscillating substantial and insubstantial)on his legs.

You can try them for yourself to see if its true.

As the previous poster noted, if you understand what he is saying this is actually quite worthwhile listening to and watching.

to me is a very pleasure to understand what he is saying...

please, do you translate the highlights?

p.s.: some demos waht Zhu Datong did has it translations in putunghua, if help you...

This is more "instrucional" I guess...

Every time he repeats:
my trunk relaxed... I not use force...You see..see
Wo yao sung...Wo mei you li...Ni kan...kan...

I don't quite understand what you said. Are you asking me to translate the key instructions of the clip?

Actually, its not easy to translate tips of the second clip. It involves the training of the folding (retract) of the four hollow points....the two between the upper inner thighs and the lower tummy, and the two between the breast and the arm. These four hollow points have to be empty (retract and sung) in order to effectively do push hands and face incoming forces at these weak areas and being off balanced.

To train these areas, every advance, like moving from bow step forward or moving your arm forward, these areas should first retract and sung. The sung of these hollow areas involves sung of 9 areas and 10 keys. The incoming force in these hollows are redirected (your yi) very far far back of your body. The pusher cannot emit any force cause he has no root. The moment you think about the pushed area and try to act on it, your opponent will be rooted and have something to push on.

I guess the way to verify that you have trained correctly is to have someone push you on these areas like in the clip.

That's my 2 cents of understandings and translation. Everybody are welcome to chip in.
