Daoist "yoga", unheard of, and, or rarely seen today, mimics Indian yoga (origin) through borrowing over centuries but have cropped up in various routines used in the qigong descriptive conventions. Zhineng qigong has a similar posture to 'energize' the spinal column, stretch the musculature, 'work out' the neurological system to achieve wellness and mitigate chronic illness. It is called Dun Qiang (蹲牆功 (Wall Squatting)
Based on the fitness of the individual, knee/ankle stress may mean that a "higher" position/posture be taken so as not to damage the knee and cause falls for those in whom balance is compromised.
