The US stock markets were at record highs when Trump took office, as was unemployment. Both much better than anyone had predicted eight years earlier. (When Trump was saying that the economic figures were false, that unemployment was about 40%, etc.. But, either way, it's good that unemployment is low).
Let Trump take credit for everything that is good. Still, our budget is bigger and the country's deficit is at a record high. Not only that, we have to borrow money from China to pay bailouts to farmers whose businesses are suffering because of tariffs. Tax cuts are great, but bills still need to be paid.
The thing about NATO is, if it's not necessary, why is good relations with Russia important? Russia doesn't want NATO to interfere with its interests, and fears when nearby nations become NATO aligned. We still supply weapons to the Ukraine, which has gas and oil reserves that would be useful in Europe.
Trump said that Russia controlled Germany because of the latter's dependence on Russian petroleum. If the EU and NATO countries don't have access to Ukrainian (and Iranian) petroleum and gas, it only strengthens Russian control. If you were Germany, and wanted to avoid being "controlled" by Russia, what would you do?
