Another half-baked idea from the UK

Rum, beer, movies, nice websites, gaming, etc., without interrupting the flow of martial threads.

You two should plan to meet on the beach for a stickfight and not show up.

I'm against Gun Permits in general because they turn our 2nd Amendment RIGHT into a permission slip, which is not what a right should be. I'm pretty much against gun regulation as well in terms of rights to privacy. It's really not the government's business to know what kind of guns or how many I have. Plus, gun registration paves the way for gun confiscation(see California). Plus there's all of the expense, paperwork, fingerprinting, hassle, etc associated with all of this. I don't mind the 10 minute phone call when I first purchase the gun to check if there are any warrants for my arrest or not. But other than that, hands off.

uh. so that means you wouldn't mind if some borderline psychopath rapist gets a gun, then rapes and murders some kid in a playground?

like all of our rights in the bill of rights, if we trample someone ELSE's rights, we lose our own. guns give you too much power over other people's rights--I think you need to prove that you will be responsible with the gun before you can buy one. cars kill more people than guns, and we need permits for those.

Already happening today even with all of our precious gun laws. duh. ::)

Thank you Professor, but let me point out that a license to drive is not guaranteed anywhere in our Constittution or BoR. Guns are.
Free men have always had access to weapons and firearms, and with that comes responsibility of ownership and usage.
If that's too much for people to handle then they can always move to one of the various Socialist European countries. Or Canada.. :P
