Why Aren't Americans Buying the Bailout?

Because we, the people, no longer believe that our elected officials have our best interests at heart.

And because we don't want to bail out companies that got themselves into this mess after making obscene profits for many years. Let 'em fail.

The federal government has become almost completely unresponsive to its constitutents. If they accept the Wall Street bankers shifting this debt burden to the American people they've been screwing all these years, it is the nail in the coffin of any semblance of a representative government, although that time may have already long since passed. If the Congress follows the wishes of the people and refuses any acceptance of their debt and the creation of essentially a new branch of government, the banking dictatorship, they will prove they still represent us.

Right. Of course the gov. encouraged the industry to lend to low income borrowers who could not afford a 'normal' loan.

Let's see here...$100 billion or less of bad loans...hmnn...trillions and trillions of free money with no oversight and not even the slightest indication that the money wouldn't be immediately used to do the same thing. Maybe we're not accepting this nonsense because we're not as stupid as they thought we were.

And while this ridiculous debate about $700 billion is going on with a Congress who is not even allowed to see the full bill until the last moment, more than $1 trillion has been pumped out by the Fed in a week or so. It's complete nonsense, fraud, scam, ponzi, economic terrorism.

These homeowners that are in a crunch are not all low income borrowers nor are most of them guilt-free. A scam depends on the greed of two parties to work.

WSJ:
"Satellite-Surveillance Program to Begin Despite Privacy Concerns

WASHINGTON -- The Department of Homeland Security will proceed with the first phase of a controversial satellite-surveillance program, even though an independent review found the department hasn't yet ensured the program will comply with privacy laws.

Congress provided partial funding for the program in a little-debated $634 billion spending measure that will fund the government until early March. For the past year, the Bush administration had been fighting Democratic lawmakers over the spy program, known as the National Applications Office."

I sure hope that $634 billion is a typo

The question is more like, why would congress even think that Americans would want this bailout at all?

because only THE EVIL TERRORIST BABY KILLERS want the economy to go down in a huge ball of flame which is what will happen if you don't support the bailout.

It's because the barrier between the elites and the masses is crumbling, and like Michael said we are not as dumb as they think we are. ;)

I don't think it matters what the public buys or does not buy.

Ultimately, the executive is gonna put the same shit sandwich on teh table with tax cuts for corporate buddies of more than a majority of congress and voila, the shit sandwich is passed and glossed up into a shiny turd for the public.

there aren't any changes to the bill except that corprate tax cuts have been added to appease those congressional members who didn't get anything for themselves out of the first rendering.

Pathetic is what it's all become and has been for a while.
Taxpayers get it up the ass again!

lets all cheer!
