It's always interesting to me when some kind of skill passes to the next generation. In Ronda Rousey's case, her mom was a world champion in judo. Clearly she must've been an early influence and coach. It would be great to learn about that one topic, but now, Ronda of course has other coaches. Many have some connection to judo, according to Wikipedia, such as "Judo" Gene LeBell, Manny Gamburyan and Karo Parisyan (teammates), coaches Gokor Chivichyan (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gokor_Chivichyan) and Lucia Rijker (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucia_Rijker). In
theory with a bigger pipeline, judo players should dominate the way wrestlers currently do, due to upright training (not really in shiai but in the art) suited for translation to striking game, most facets of grappling game, plus more throwing game. Rousey and Fedor (sambo/judo) seem to be the main examples. Would be interesting to hear about her selection of coaches.
