Forbidden Kingdom

Just caught this. Pretty much exactly what I was expecting. Ridiculously cheesy but lots of fun if you're into that sort of thing. Lots of cool fight scenes, jet and jackie are still great even tho they are both getting on in age.

Saw the end coming from about 30 jillion miles away but you get that sometimes ;D

overall i quite enjoyed it, good light watching

It was fun. You can guess that it will be hollywoodish, fantastical etc, but it's something to sit back and be entertained by...and the get some practice in.

I felt it was a mix of both, hollywood and hk films. The plot, with the withe toast kid, was hollywood-cheesy but the fight sequences were very hk. Hollywood still can't film a fight seuqence right, so I'm gessing Yuen Wo-Ping did some extra job on that one.

It was fun, some good fight sequences but I feel bringing in the western kid who miraculously speaks chinese and learns kung fu in a 16th cenyury chinese setting was a bit too much, maybe I'm a purist but the karate kid type hero I feel is pandering to american audiences

except for the jackie vs jet scene, the fight scenes were mostly pretty run-of-the-mill stuff. the fights in drunken fist 2 were way better. plus the white kid was SOOO annoying. I wanted him to get killed through the entire movie.

I not only feel like my intelligence was insulted, but also my entire culture. my god, they fucked up the monkey king so bad. and the jade emperor too.

Has anyone seen The Golden Palace with Chow Yun Fat?

If so, reactions?
