lots of talk about what are called "assault weapons" ie scary looking semi automatic rifles due to the ability to fire quickly......people should understand that with a little training and lots of practice most weapons can be fired quickly, also reloaded quickly
Lucky the Norway terrorists was an uneducated, untrained looney loner. Apparently an hail-gun was used, one person in the mosque got a minimal injury. But it seem that prior his mosque attack he has killed his stepsister(who was from China)at their home...People that know him say that there was nothing unusual about him up til about a year ago, when he began to harbour negative thought about women and immigrants....

Lots of talk concerning the latest shooting the ammunition used, able to go through what are called bulletproof vest.
My coworkers on a former job bought their own vest, 50% reimbursed by the company.
"The reality about bulletproof vests is that they’re not bulletproof, they’re actually bullet resistant. The reality is that bullet resistant vests don’t protect the wearer from every threat."
Most rifle rounds and some hand gun rounds will Penetrate the vest.
In the job I once worked it was said the bad guys understanding that most people had a vest, would just shoot to the head.
News media seems to be making a commonly known fact into something more than it is.

Here's a new twist. Philadelphia residents of Nicetown/Tioga neighborhood heckled, shoved, and threw objects at police who were responding to a mass shooting by suspect Maurice Hill, who is accused of shooting 6 cops.
Can we agree that driving by and shooting random people is an act of terrorism? Malls are shut. People hunker down in their homes, or head to hospitals to check on their loved ones.

The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations defines terrorism as "the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives" (28 C.F.R. Section 0.85).
Fair enough. It's not terrorism, as per the government definition.

"Is it terrorism?"
Is it connected to an ideology or political goal?

Well, my point was about the result --even more so than the crime or the intent. There was fear, not caused by an individual event, but by a series of events. I didn't know "who" did the crime or "why" he did it. The problem is the number of ideologically inspired "terror" events. The result is that terror is achieved, whether or not the perpetrator was inspired or not.
I still haven't bothered to find out who that shooter was. If it was just a random act, does it make anyone less fearful?

How about these events. Any cause for fear
Of course it's just over one weekend holiday not during the week. Maybe it's different
.CHICAGO — At least 34 people have been shot in gun violence over the Labor Day weekend.
Eight of those people died from their injuries.
Another 26 other people were wounded in shootings across the city.
