hey if you brits are on facebook, join up the no tv license group. I was in London this year and I was surprised to find out that you are collectively still getting fucked for that money! Ouch!
Imagine just for a minute you americans, that you have to pay 200 bucks a year to simply have a tv. that is fucked!

You might find this hard to believe, but a lot of people are in favour of the license fee - like me.

What we get in return is the best TV channel in the world, that makes some of the best TV programmmes in the world WITHOUT and adverts! On the whole it's not a perfect system, but nobody can think of a better one. I've been to the US - I've seen what your TV is like, and I'd rather keep it the British way - thanks! ;)

+ by having a great advertless tv channel, the commercial channels also have much less advertising than they'd have otherwise.

fyi- I live in Canada and we have the CBC here. Which frankly is very much like your BBC, which is supposed to be what you pay a license fee for right? I mean, does the BBC really cost that much, because we have less citizens than you, two languages across several stations +radio across several channels and on satellite with some of the best programming in the country.

The CBC is relatively commericial free. No where nere as extant as standard commercial TV.

anyway, point is, we DON'T pay a license fee and the funding comes from minimal adverts allowed on TV (many just promote upcoming shows) and they are funded through our Ministry of Culture and Arts.

Think about the numbers. You chaps are being fleeced!

I think you're only being fleeced if you feel you're being fleeced. I don't feel like I'm being fleeced, therefore I am not :)

Things are only worth what you're willing to pay for them.
