It's an interesting story. I followed the link to the Spanish source. https://elpais.com/elpais/2019/03/13/in ... 79320.html

I had to read it because I wondered what the NK government was saying. Did this have anything to do with the Trump/Kim meeting ending early? But, why was it started anyway if this was already known or suggested?

Now, afa having links to the CIA, that's a pretty big area to cover. But, tying, bagging, gagging, and beating people is not beyond lots of people.

Given the extensive criminal activity that the Norks engage in this is always hard to figure. My understanding is that all of their embassy operations are required to be self financing with a significant cut going back to Kim in North Korea proper.

So, these places engage in a lot of counterfeiting, meth/designer drug sales and God knows what else.

The issue is that when you engage in crime it inevitably means you are dealing with other criminals and this can lead to turf wars. The idiot pot dealer that got himself killed in Cancun a month or so back is a good example of this, even though the press held him up as some kind of anachro-capitalist. The reality was he was growing and dealing in marijuana in Cancun. All of this eventually pissed off the local dealers and producers, so they killed him.

A lot of criminal behavior surrounds Nork embassies due to this. I don't know the numbers, but their "diplomats" frequently get killed for this reason.

Hola Senor Policia, yo soy Chargé d'affaires. Why don't I look Korean? Medical condition hermano. Vitiligo. Here, have some kimchi.

That woman screaming on the balcony? No problemo. She's just making a Tik Tok segment.

Anything else? No? kthxbye

Two years ago, Kim Jong-nam, the uncle of the current NK leader, was assassinated in a Malaysian airport by two women who smeared VX nerve agent on his face. After claiming they thought it was a prank for a TV show, Malaysia announced it has released the Indonesian woman back to her home country, while a murder case proceeds against the Vietnamese defendant.

Malaysia won’t drop case against Vietnamese in Kim killing

Huong and Aisyah were accused of smearing the toxic VX nerve agent on Kim Jong Nam’s face in an airport terminal in Kuala Lumpur on Feb. 13, 2017. They have said they thought they were taking part in a harmless prank for a TV show.

They were the only people in custody after four North Korean suspects fled the country the same morning Kim was killed. Both women were charged separately but the charge against them is the same: That they had colluded with the four North Korean suspects to murder Kim.

I wonder how much Indonesia paid to get her released?

Getting released from a Thai prison for murder a few years back was 1 million baht, which was about $35K USD at the time.
