Interesting development but not unexpected.
At this point if you were the president what would you do?

"Not unexpected" by whom, though? If it wasn't expected, ... never mind.

Afa what I would do, I think the most important thing is to ease relations between the Koreas. Then, I would ask that agreements be made between the Koreas and Japan. Personally, I wouldn't have tried to negotiate directly with Kim, anyway. That's what regional partners are for, i.e., the people Kim threatens directly.

Anyway, I think it is too complex to think that there's a simple solution. Kim got everything he wanted from the "summit." We got a vague promise for eventual denuclearization of the peninsula. Did that mean giving up missiles or just nuclear capable missiles? What about chemical and biological weapons? What is the time frame and who gets to check? Most of all, what happens if the agreement is not accepted, or Kim reneges, or it's found that Kim is building some other type of "wmd"?
Personally, though, those are the questions that I'd want to have answered before I congratulated myself on any agreement.

However, if the summit was just a way to agree on the basis of future meetings, that would be cool. That's often the way it works. But, it presumes that there are specific goals that can be verified. Those are what I'd have, at least. Oh, and I wouldn't say that everyone who came before me wasn't able to solve the problem.

As opposed to what?

Showing Kim a movie and accomplishing nothing?

Watch "President Trump showed this video to Kim Jong Un" on YouTube

This is what happens when you elect a reality TV star for the office of the president; everything he touches turns to crap and for all his blame on China all his campaign products are still made in China

China eases economic pressure on North Korea, undercutting the Trump admin
