I think if anything the hearing antics will prove to have done more to politicize Kav as a justice than anything else.

At the end of the day, I really can't see what the idiot left was thinking by pursuing all of this. Ford was hardly credible and had many personal flaws (Democratic political operative, lying about polygraphs, etc.). The Republicans had the 50 votes to begin with. It did an excellent job of mobilizing the Republican base.

Outside of that, it all appeared to be a waste of time fighting against something that was going to happen anyway.

The process was a farce; the outcome was expected; but the memes are great. How anyone derives a Hitler connection from this is an enigma. Was he also falsely accused? ???

Yes it was the dems, attempted to corrupt it.
They are trying to corrupt the outcome but its done.

The outcome a product of the process which is to "advise and consent"

You didn't read my post did ya?

So, the dems (or lefties) tried to corrupt the process of advise and consent. If Ford had been a rightie, she would have been more credible. But, why the Hitler meme? and where did you find it? Or did you make the connection on your own?

You do like labels, credibility has to do with being credible she was not. She will be lucky if they dont start to investigate her.

Sorry, everyone said her testimony was credible; i.e., believable. As you said, she had no evidence. Afa the investigation, the FBI had to investigate the event from his and her side. If you mean, she'll be lucky if they investigate her for something else, what exactly would that be? Would it be to punish her?

Re: Hitler. yeah, Hitler memes are very funny to some people. I wasn't sure whether the Hitler in the meme would be happy or unhappy with Kavanaugh's appointment. I wondered why the person who created the meme would take it. See, cause Hitler is sort of representing Kavanaugh's Republican supporters in this case. It's ironic because he thinks he's won.

I can only conclude that everyone is scared shitless of the minitrumps out there in middle America. The dems strategy was wrong they should have concentrated on his behavior pattern and not on the he said/she said, both Stevens and the ABA deemed him unfit. Still it was probably in the bag a week ago, don't take a knife to a gun fight

Kend,

Keep in mind that Stevens is a rabid leftist and the ABA is a far left organization.

Both are far from apolitical in this regard and not honest brokers.

Also what some seem to ignore.

This guy was a sitting fed judge for some 12 or more yrs. among other positions that
required in depth investigations for the position and investigations done by others seeking to prevent him
from either attaining the position, acting while in it, or trying to remove him from it.

Very unlikely that any of this would have been missed
or not reported during that time.

The process itself was corrupted.

PD Lefties, are you still in the McCarthy era. As far as I can determine the ABA is the most respected professional organisation in the legal world. Stevens was appointed by Nixon commended by Ford, hardly a wild eyed commie.

The American Bar Association (ABA), founded August 21, 1878,[1] is a voluntary bar association of lawyers and law students, which is not specific to any jurisdiction in the United States. The ABA's most important stated activities are the setting of academic standards for law schools, and the formulation of model ethical codes related to the legal profession. The ABA has 410,000 members. Its national headquarters are in Chicago, Illinois; it also maintains a significant branch office in Washington, D.C. According to the ABA, it "provides law school accreditation, continuing legal education, information about the law, programs to assist lawyers and judges in their work, and initiatives to improve the legal system for the public. The Mission of the American Bar Association is to be the national representative of the legal profession, serving the public and the profession by promoting justice, professional excellence and respect for the law."[10] Since 1923, law schools which meet ABA standards are listed as "approved".[11] ABA accreditation is important not only because it affects the recognition of the law schools involved, but it also affects a graduate's ability to practice law in a particular state. Specifically, in most U.S. jurisdictions, graduation from an ABA-accredited law school is prerequisite towards being allowed to sit for that state's bar exam, and even for existing lawyers to be admitted to the bar of another state upon motion.[12] Even states which recognize unaccredited schools within their borders will generally not recognize such schools from other jurisdictions for purposes of bar admission.
John Paul Stevens (born April 20, 1920) is an American lawyer and jurist who served as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1975 until his retirement in 2010. At the time of his retirement, he was the second-oldest serving justice in the history of the Court,[1][2][3] the third-longest serving Supreme Court Justice in history. Stevens was considered to have been on the liberal side of the Court at the time of his retirement.[4][5]
Born in Chicago, Stevens served in the United States Navy during World War II and graduated from Northwestern University School of Law. After clerking for Justice Wiley Blount Rutledge, he co-founded a law firm in Chicago, focusing on antitrust law. In 1970, President Richard Nixon appointed Stevens to the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Five years later, President Gerald Ford successfully nominated Stevens to the Supreme Court to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of Justice William O. Douglas. He became the senior Associate Justice after the retirement of Harry Blackmun in 1994. Stevens retired during the administration of President Barack Obama and was succeeded by Justice Elena Kagan.
