Nurmagomedov vs McGregor [SPOILERS]

Rum, beer, movies, nice websites, gaming, etc., without interrupting the flow of martial threads.

It's tough to make the case for a rematch because it just wasn't a competitive fight. Of course, the UFC will want a rematch for the $, but I think Kabib has to agree.
One does not simply post on RSF.

A rematch would be great for ppv, but would have to highlight all the incidents leading up to it inside and outside the ring. Imagine the promotion. It'd be worse than WWE. People would watch, though.

So i guess you didn't see the 'promotion' for this one? It's already worse.

I think the only real obstacle to a rematch would be NSAC sanctions against Khabib - he may well be suspended for a lengthy spell.

My point was only that the promotion for a rematch would be doubly worse. People would watch a rematch more for the outside the ring antics than for the fight, which would be "bad" for the sport, but good for business.

I'm sure that Khabib could be sanctioned, but I think it'd be hypocritical to stop him from fighting because of something he did outside the ring --even though at an event. If there's a rematch, the UFC will be sanctioning the behavior.

I'm not sure that Khabib even cares about fighting in the ufc anymore. I think he'd like to get Connor again, but it wouldn't be the same. He's gotten it off his chest. It'd be harder on Connor to not have a chance for revenge. He might push for it by saying worse things than he did before. It can only escalate ...quickly.

Of course mcnuggets wants a rematch. He'd get 7-8 figures for another sound beating but i think he just is a dog with a bone when it comes to the press and attention. He probably went in thinking "if i loose I'll just call a rematch and posture around with some bullshit tweets. Might even flog some more whisky."

Khabib is a different beast. It's not about lime light & money does not really make a difference (since his pay has been increasing we have not seen him selling himself out and going on any self promo bling binges).

Khabib will fight if its presented because thats what he does.

But connor should not get another shot against him without scaling the ranks again. He did not just get beaten. To use khabibs words he "smashed your boy". Ferguson deserves the next bout but ufc's is a business...

Former LW Champ Tony Ferguson. Beat Anthony Pettis in the co-main event 6 months after full knee recon. Intense guy. They've tried to set he and Khabib up multiple times.. it's never panned out.

Technically, Tony is the former interim lightweight champion. (Once the original champion is able to return, he must fight against the interim champion in a "unification bout." The winner of this contest is then deemed the "undisputed champion.")

November 12, 2016 — Conor defeats Eddie Alvarez to become the lightweight champion.
August 26, 2017 — Conor fights Mayweather Jr.
October 7, 2017 — Tony Ferguson defeats Kevin Lee to become the interim lightweight champion.
April 1, 2018 — Tony tears his lateral collateral ligament in his knee by tripping on a wire in-studio. This forces Tony to withdraw from UFC 223—where he was scheduled to fight Khabib to defend his interim belt, making it the fourth time a fight with Khabib has been cancelled.
April 7, 2018 — In UFC 223, Khabib defeats Al Iaquinta (replacement for Tony) to become the lightweight champion. Conor is stripped of his lightweight championship belt. As, Conor has not defended his belt since he won it on November 12, 2016. (On November 26, 2016, Conor was stripped of the featherweight belt. As he failed to defend it since winning it on December 12, 2015 defeating Jose Aldo.)

It's not unusual not to do heavy sparring:

the Tony guy seems vaguely interesting (just barely heard him say those few comments). from a super casual fan pov, it seems like it'd be good to have him take on khabib

Tony has OCD ... in martial arts. He is a great guy to watch, excellent skills and his fight with Pettis (right before khabib v connor) was entertaining (yet bloody). Pettis even broke his hand so he decided to throw handstand kicks instead. These guys are amazing athletes.
