"The Trump administration has known since at least April that alleged white supremacists were responsible for every single act of race-based domestic terrorism in the U.S. in 2018, yet not only took no action to combat the growing right wing violent extremism, but actually substantially reduced or even eliminated funding and programs that combat white supremacist extremism, violence, and terrorism – and then blocked the data from reaching the hands of Congress."

Civil Rights and Human rights activists were always called violent, even though they were being murdered or bombed.

Undercover in Patriot Prayer: Insights From a Vancouver Democrat Who's Been Working Against the Far-Right Group from the Inside

Ben spent most of May 1 filming what he considered “the most uneventful” May Day gathering he’d ever seen. But then he heard about the Cider Riot plan.

“You guys want to go to Cider Riot, because Joey [Gibson]’s going,” says a man carrying a “Don’t Tread On Me” flag by the I-84 overpass, captured on Ben’s livestream. “We should back him up.”

Gibson had apparently learned that members of antifa were planning on meeting up at the NE Couch cidery after the day’s protests wrapped up. He told his followers to meet him them there at 6 pm.

After stepping away from the far-right flag-wavers to relay this information to his livestream followers, Ben temporarily stopped filming. When he switches the stream back on, he’s walking through NE Portland neighborhoods with the far-right protesters and Ngo, the conservative writer. They’re headed toward Cider Riot.

Ben says that he paused his livestream to call Cider Riot and warn the staff about Patriot Prayer’s planned visit.

For the next 20 minutes, Ben films as the group loiters a few blocks away from Cider Riot, waiting for Gibson to show up.

As the group waits, they discuss their weaponry. A few men try to guess which way the wind's blowing to avoid getting "spray" in their eyes, presumably when they use it against members of antifa. Another man holds a thick wooden dowel, and practices swinging it like a baseball bat. A woman carries a red brick in her hand. Some don goggles, helmets, and tactical gloves.

"Who's texting Joey?" Someone asks when the group seems to be without a game plan. Another man says, “Tell Joey and them to hurry the fuck up.”

Ben captures someone telling a person on speakerphone, "There's going to be a huge fight," and gives them directions to Cider Riot.

Ngo doesn’t film any of the conversations, and smiles when the group cracks jokes.

“He overheard everything,” Ben recalls, “and said nothing.”

As soon as Gibson appears with Adams, the group walks the remaining blocks to Cider Riot. People sitting on the cidery’s patio, many of them dressed in all black (a tactic called “black bloc,” used by some anti-fascists), appear prepared. What happened next was May Day’s headline-maker: A massive street brawl instigated by members of Patriot Prayer, featuring oddly structured fist fights in a haze of pepper spray and name-calling.

Ya beat me to it. The so-called impartial journalist was in on it from the get go, as most people already knew. As soon as this came out he removed his affiliation with Quillette from his Twitter. Womp womp!

It doesn’t sound very well planned/organized. Sometimes when media reports about the far righters its reported that they are trained military style, also some here on the board say they(far right) train GJJ/MMA stuff.......But when the fighting begins, it’s just sticks and bricks...Sounds as the “gårda krig”(block wars) we used to have as kids..
Well anyway, hope they all stick to kids fighting and not escalate it

Of course, far-right and white nationalists killed hundreds before Heather and have been busy since, too.

White supremacists have committed at least 73 murders since the far-right rally two summers ago in Charlottesville, Virginia.

That comes from a report released Thursday by the Anti-Defamation League that says 39 of the killings were “clearly motivated by hateful, racist ideology.”

The violence of the Unite the Right rally has led to an increase in white supremacist activity, according to the report, which is titled “Two Years Ago, They Marched in Charlottesville. Where Are They Now?”

“The violence on the streets of Charlottesville has kindled two major tracks of white supremacist activity,” the ADL said. “The first is the rampant dissemination of propaganda designed to promote their views and attract attention. The other, more troubling track is a broader series of violent attacks in the two years since Unite the Right.”

Among those attacks were the shootings at a Parkland high school, the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, the Poway Chabad and Saturday’s attack at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas.

According to the report, the recent attacks are part of a four-year resurgence in white supremacist activity and activism driven in large part by the rise of the “alt right.”

The Unite the Right rally in August 2017, which left one counterprotester dead, drew far-right extremists from at least 39 states and presented approximately 50 different extreme-right movements, groups and entities, according to the report.

More than a dozen Unite the Right attendees have been convicted and sentenced for crimes related to violence committed during the rally, most notably James Alex Fields Jr. of Ohio, who was sentenced to two life sentences plus 419 years for deliberately driving his car into a crowd of protesters, killing Heather Heyer and injuring dozens more.

The report also traces the trajectory of the last two years for several other leaders of the rally, including several that now lead their own white supremacist groups. Some of the leaders have faced lawsuits as well as domestic and international travel bans.

Most of the white supremacist groups and individuals who attended Unite the Right remain active today, according to the report.

Take a look at the pic at the top of the article. There are people on this board and even this thread who are consistently and actively defending these people.

I don’t follow this too closely. My comment was on the quoted scenario you posted.

But I do understand gang violence in USA has been violent for a long time, involving many ethnic groupings....And as I follow Swedish news from my little safe haven..US gang(ster) style violence now has a boom in the quiet little Sweden too, sad indeed.

What happened with Heather Hayer was, at the Charlottesville "unite the right" rally, as counterprotestors were leaving the primary scene and everything was dying down. One of the fascists turned down a road he didn't even have to travel on to get out of the area, pulled right up to a group of protesters, and when they didn't get out of his way, he backed up about a hundred feet or so and slammed on the gas, crashing into a crowd of people. He would have kept going but there were other cars in the way that stopped him.

We're lucky only one died.

And what was the response from our right wing politicians? To pass laws making it legal to run over protesters.

Seriously. They did that.

Now extrapolating out, people in those hats spouting those views have stabbed, shot, and beaten people while Antifa was handing out water and putting themselves between the fascists and the innocents.

Antifa in the US does not have a body count. The fascists do.

Antifa in the US does not have a body count. The fascists do.

“Kill every fascist,” the shooter declared in 2018 on twitter, echoing a rallying cry of antifa ideologues.

Which shooter was that? Was it a politically motivated shooting? Do we get to count people who express similar views together? I mean, if so, that's bringing a whole shit ton of white nationalist violence into the mix.

All this equivocating is ridiculous.

Antifa ideologues? What a joke. There are many competing ideologies within the myriad peoples who make up the Anti Fascist movement. The uniting factor is that they believe in direct action against fascists. Oh, the villainy!

Must be another ship.

I’ll guess if one is an supporter of either far right or far left one only see the other group as violent and ones own group just defending themselves.
But also each group attracts a few violent people’s that don’t bother about the politics and are just into it for the violence

“Kill all fascists” - some people just throw around strong expressions without really meaning it....but some looney might pic it up and take it to action.

Recently in Swedish media I read about an Rapper from USA that just had visited Sweden, and she hated it so much that she wished someone dropped bombs on the blond blue eyed Swedish pigs...of course she don’t really mean that, but some might take her word.
