Universities and schools trying to go full on campus have realized it didn't work.

.

Following Swedish mediathe reports seem to change from day to day, back’n forth......We have to wait and see, as it say at the end of your linked article
.Only a year or two after the pandemic, however, can experts fairly judge what was done correctly, the authors said.

June 16 Swedish state TV news site report that the Gotland region(Sweden’s biggest island) had the most reported cases during that last week...Then today it’s by same media reported that the region now has unexpected few cases during this summer season.....(Gotland is a big summer tourist destination in Sweden)

Reports shifting from this to that and back again..

the numbers for sweden are up and down but overall (moving average) trend seems to be going down since early July. Is there any larger policy or behavioral change happening? Summer is easier for outdoor air and distancing, but maybe there are other changes?

overall numbers for USA are going up.

Schools have just started and people returning to work. We'll see the outcome of this in a few weeks.

Several colleges in the US began classes, but had to switch to virtual or hybrid learning because several students tested positive for the virus. It's already happened with many elementary (K-12) schools. Of course, that's the US.

I think the safest way to open schools is to focus on them, not the economy (Wall Street is hitting record highs). Test all the children, parents, teachers, and people the children will come in contact with --because they are in school-- two weeks before classes. Then test them again the day school begins. Isolate all of those who may test positive, and give them virtual lessons. Let the others continue classes.

I don't think it makes sense just to test after all the children have been in class. That's why they suddenly have to shut down.

There’s no testing in schools in Sweden, not children and not teachers. Parents are not allowed inside the buildings, the teachers make sure that the kids wash their hands etc, but no testing. And yes, it doesn’t make sense.

Popular beaches and parks are crowded(as i see on media pics) as crowded it can be in Sweden, just natural/common distancing ,summer allow for more outdoor activity. But as Bao point out, schools will start and autumn comes, so we have to see what happens next.

Some potentially very good news on the diagnosis front. If true, we might finally get some solid numbers on the actual infection rate.

oh wow that'd be great to have this kind of easy, rapid testing.

surely would help knowing more about actual rates, safety, being able to safely do more practical stuff like travel, get together, etc.

The new euphemism for introducing pseduoscience conspiracy bullshit.

It's not "interesting". It's willfully ignorant.

Just search this thread for any post with the statement, "an interesting article on". It's weaselly way of distancing yourself from irresponsible misinformation. It's like how Trump says, "I'm would never say X, but people are saying X."

Disgusting
