"Asian squat" - this video says that it is difficult for non-Asians to do.

How about you guys? (I am Asian, and I can do it without discomfort. This also happens to be the way to loaf around if you are a Japanese delinquent.)

My guess is that even non-Asians here might be able to do it, due to the special exercises that we do here! (Although some Asians in the video were able to do it fine, despite never having tried before.)

one of my knees has a weakness so don't think i can do it now. I wonder if it's shorter legs / longer torso or for some generations, different type of toilet.

edit: can do it, it just doesn't feel great.

Hmm,
I can do it easy, no sweat to sit like it qute long time...
It should be no problem for anyone with some flexibility training, regardless of race, I suppose.
I`m European, btw.

I can do it...but I'm half Asian so I guess that's not very helpful. Like the other posters, think it's more about general flexibility.

For a long time in my 20s and 30s I couldn't do it at all, but I never grew up doing it. Lately I'm getting closer, having started to focus on flexibility and including a "squat set" in my training. I suspect it's just what you do from youth, but of course genetics play a role at some level. Another guy from Maine I grew up with could do full splits cause he just thought he should all his life.

I had to learn how to squat properly after a few aborted attempts. Many people do it.

Isn't it the same as the Slav squat? Making it automatically not Asian-only.

Most Americans can't do it. Not even close. I could do it after some flexibility training and working at it (Aunkai work really helped/necessitated it). Alas, It's no longer easy or comfortable for me as I haven't been doing that sort of work for the last few years. sigh. I do notice that I can do it after deadlifts or other leg workouts. Just got to warm them up.
