According to Peterson, yep. He says that the basis of (no only) western civilization is that "Truth is health." He relates that relationships like marriages, but also larger relationships between people.

Well, does anyone know a western society built on"Truth'? Then again, lies destroy marriages; but, how many partners lie? In western philosophy, there are the moralists who'd say lying is immoral. Otoh, most would also say that it may be necessary. And then you have the Macchiavellans and Nietscheans, who'd say that those are just ideas to constrain the strong. Iow, Truth is good, as long as it doesn't get in the way.

To me it’s more about not to lie to yourself and face reality of things. This is step one.
Honesty is really the best policy in any “heathy” long term relationship. At least try not to lie.
