My daughter has been going to China for the past 6 years and she took the Silk Road 'tour' and the condition of the Uighers has been bad. It is not an obvious outright campaign but one could see that the campaign was one of contain and deny entry to their own institutions. Not unlike the occupation of TIbet, where Han migration was a main tool to make a claim and to change the demography enough whre the area would be stamped with that presence and control. Han are being compensated in ways that the normal Xinkiang people would be punished and then sent to re-education camps as a way to make way for the new demgraphics.

Your daughter travels by the Silk Road into China , that route/area is notorious for drug/narcotic smuggling, the Chinese government putting on big resources to fight it, to prevent narcotics flooding the country......guess who make up the largest bulk of notorious smugglers in that area ?!
You who are/was stationed as “security personell” in Afghanistan should understand all about this....
